Jake,
I have always enjoyed your Redford postings. Too bad it won't happen this year but like you said, your home layout will be special and we will all be waiting for next Christmas.................
Train ON!

Jake I understand completely. We all need a break to recharge and it sounds like you have several other happenings in your life right now. Hopefully we'll bump into each other at an event when things start returning to normal.

No question about it, not a good move to do it this year. Christmas 2021 will be even more special.
Hope your move to your new digs goes well.

One more tradition missing this year and I have no doubt many of the theater guests will miss it as well. Hopefully you will post pictures of the past layouts. Would be kind of neat to see how it has progressed from the beginning.
And yes, now you get to enjoy making a home layout instead. So I consider that a win. And a lot less work as well.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It's definitely a bittersweet decision to make although I think it's the right one. I'll definitely see if I can round up photos/videos from previous years. Every year I start to do that and then run out of time, so now seems like the perfect chance. As for our theater guests missing it, I'm still toying with some ideas to keep the spirit of the trains alive at the theater this season, even if it's in video form somehow. Time will tell.

Like the others have stated. It'll be sad not to see it come to life but totally understand considering the current circumstances. Good luck with your move and looking forward to seeing the home layout. Are you going to incorporate some of what you did on the Redford layout to the home layout?

I'd certainly like to include some elements from the theater layout in what I do here, but I'm somewhat more limited since it'll be a floor layout. One advantage to the theater layout is being able to hide most of the wiring under the platforms. I don't believe my new apartment will be too much different from my current one since it's in the same complex (downsizing from a two bedroom with a roommate to a one bedroom alone), but I'm still waiting to see exactly how much room I'll have before I plan too much. At the very least I might try to utilize my "snow lights" under the snow, but we'll see how things progress.

Good Luck Jake. Sorry to hear about no layout this year. I always enjoyed when you could host us. When we start hosting in door functions it will be good to see you again.
