Since I have blabbed on about the slow Pennsylvania vaccine rollout compared to many states, I decided an update is in order.
During the last week, I learned from several sources that many vaccine providers in rural areas in Western Pennsylvania aren't getting enough people to fill up their appointment schedules, before the expiration date. I did a quick search on Saturday and found a pharmacy in a little town about 15 miles from my home that had lots of appointment slots available for today and into the week. I received my first Moderna vaccine today. The man ahead of me was in his 70s, but the three people I saw after me were quite a few years younger than me. There were no questions asked about risk factors. Allegheny County (Pittsburgh) is another story. I do not know anything about Eastern Pennsylvania. Also it seems the hospitals do a more thorough screening for risk factors for those under 65 than pharmacies. So I got mine at 64 years and 5 months, Tom Wolf!!
Hopefully more people who want the vaccine now will get it before the official guidelines state so as not to have vaccines expire as has been happening. Maybe when the word gets around, it will help turn this state around a little. Keeping fingers crossed that there will be a York meet in the fall of this year even if I can't go.

With every passing day, more and more are receiving their vaccines. At the rate we are going, most who want it will have had the opportunity to receive it by the end of September. Hard to believe that the York Meet will pose much of a risk in late October.
The good news in all of this is we are not alone in PA holding large events. The pressure will build quickly if there is no good reason for PA officials to deny events like ours. The folks have had just about enough of non-experts telling us what is best for us. Whether they realize it or not, it will become a ballot box issue if unnecessary restrictions persist.

Brian, You are right/ With the NFL deciding to lengthen their season by one game, the Steelers are planning for a full house in Heinz Field in September. I'm sure the Eagles are planning for the same thing in their field.

I just got back from Key West, Florida. Hardly anyone wears a mask down there. There were more people down there this March then in the past 5 years we have been going. All the hotels were sold out, and you couldn't get a rented car. I have never seen Mallory Square so crowded at sunset..I think that people want to get out. We've been at home too long. My daughter and I have both had our Pfizer vaccines. Also I updated the days till Oct. York.

Don't you guys realize that the government says we're too stupid to do what's best for ourselves and to understand what's going on? That's why we have to be told what to do. I'm looking forward to having two of my family members visit for a backyard cookout for Fourth of July!! We'll be wearing six masks by then for sure. They are "scared" so we must comply.

Many states could learn from Florida. Thanks for the report, Eddie.

Might be a Key West thing. I've been in Ft. Lauderdale as well as 2 Keys for the past 2 weeks, and masks are worn by most everyone except for the college "spring break" bunch at the beach area.

I'm with Wood, most of us will have the vaccination cards by October, so let's go Eastern Division.

The eastern division at this moment is making plans for the October meet in York. I can't wait for breakfast at Round the Clock.

Eddie, Hope you are correct. I wonder how long this thread will get? This thread will last. This is not the OGR forum.

I'd love to go to York in October. It would be a shame if this gets pushed out another year. I feel the same way about the big show in West Springfield, MA at the Eastern States Exposition. It is so much fun to go to these events to see the excitement people have for the hobby of model railroading. As much fun and as satisfying as it is to build your own empire in the basement, sharing the enjoyment with others in a setting of a big show is all the better.
