Joe, the car with the grey/black top and rear deck? Yes, it's a metallic lilac with a black top and rear deck. Got it cheap for $80. 14 years ago. I have 2 other Motor City cars...a '59 Cadillac limo, and a '56 Dodge HT (only 500 made, and all sold-out as pre-orders). For those interested in these, it's good to understand that there are FAR more collectors of these than people buying 1:43 models for train layouts. I have about 200 cars in display cases that have not been on a layout.

Thanks for the response, Joe. For those who may know this, Motor City Models are some of the best ever made in 1:43 scale. Joe has a real gem.
If you shop carefully, you can at times get great buys for the better 1:43 scale models. Just looking at Joe's model, it stands out.

How about a passenger view from the third level of the Tinplate layout?

Found this neat photo of steam and diesel power. IT says it is from Belleville, which I believe is in Canada, but I don't know much about it. Just found the photo to be really cool.

Enjoying the MTH version of the NYC Empire State Express this weekend. This set is ‘old school’ with PS1 conventional control and passenger silhouettes in the cars. It still runs great after all these years. Sorry for the upside down thumbnail but I had to rotate my iPad to get a better closeup. Have a great weekend everyone!

Soon expecting our largest snowfall of the season this week. A cold day here as well today but here is a nice winter scene...

I finally got around to a project I’ve been meaning to do for some time. I’ve always enjoyed the animation of the Lionel postwar Sheriff and Outlaw car. The figures are much too large, which is fine for the toy that it is, but I thought it would be fun to update the car with some o scale figures. I was able to find those figures at Knuckleduster Miniatures website. This is a gaming company that has plenty of old West figures to choose from and I found two that I liked. I did have to make one small modification and that was to drill and tap for a small screw on the metal plate to attach each figure. I kept the base but had to use a razor saw to trim off a piece so that it would fit inside the car. And next came paint. I’ve always been a fan of Clayton Moore as the Lone Ranger so he is the hero and a duded up Butch Cavendish is the bad guy: Lastly, I screwed them to their base and put the whole thing back together. It was a fun afternoon project and I’m happy I finally did it. Here is a short video of the finished project:
