I got an email from the TCA offering it's members a Disney themed water tower. I was thinking cool until I saw the price. Seriously, $99 for a @#$&% water tower?? I don't care who's on it. It's a water tower and not even a real one. That's ridiculous for something that's going to sit on a layout. Maybe I'm cheap, but even if I had money growing in my back yard I still wouldn't pay that.

A fund raiser with a big name attached. Menards has a real nice one for forty bucks.

Oh my.
Do you mean that you do not like Mickey? Come on Denny. Can’t you remember singing, “M I. C. K E Y. M O. U. S. E?
Or Uncle Donald with his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
And you better be careful or Tink may drop some pixie dust on you and you will fly with Peter to Neverland.
Trains. Oh yeah, this is about trains. I don’t know about you but we love Disney and, if we want to see it, we will save our pennies to go to DisneyWorld.
I agree with you, what is TCA thinking? Maybe there are too many regular water towers? You are complaining about the price; I am wondering about the idea.
Lets just do plain trains for awhile.

If Tinker Bell has legs like Julia Roberts' roll as Tinker Bell did in Hook. She can fly me to Never Land. It's true there are a lot of water towers, but the fact they offer that, but there are people that will spend the money. I don't fall into that category.

I agree with you, Denny. $99 for a water tower is too much for me.

The water tower offered by the TCA were intended to be table prizes at the 2020 TCA Convention Banquet in Jacksonville, Florida this past June, which didn't happen because of the virus. They were made by Department 56, who was holding their convention together with the TCA convention, hence the connection. The Disney Duck Aviator Logo is the mascot of the Jacksonville Naval Air Station. I has seen them listed in the convention info in the TCA Headquarter News leading up to the convention, but it didn't turn me on either.

Okay, neat table prizes and get some $$$ for them. If D56 made them, they should be neat.
No thanks.

Its to raise money for the free ice cream after the York meet! That's fine and well, but I'm on a fixed income so people like Me are left out of the mix. As usual.

I'm sure much of the cost is in the licensing fees with Disney. They charge a lot for their image, although that doesn't necessarily make it worth the $99 unless you're a diehard fan with the money to throw at it...

I agree with you denny but need to add something also. Or people like me who can't make it there any more because of loved ones or self health issues. And I don't think I could eat that much ice cream to make it worth it to me.

It's not just this. They focused on big spenders. All the good stuff is way out of my price range. Most of the good items can't run on 0-36 curves and there isn't much made that isn't used that is.

A TCA Division President filled me in just as Brian has described in his post. Can't really blame them for trying so liquidate inventory.
