Delays from estimated delivery are the norm in the model railroad industry. Delivery dates are overly optimistic and are rarely met.
As to MTH, there are plenty of repair stations with plenty of spare parts so I'm not concerned that engines that I've bought recently will be unrepairable if the need should arise.
Sadly, most Christmas items arrive after Christmas. It just seems to be the nature of the beast.

We can all ease 90% of our frustration if we wish to do so.
When you see a projected date, automatically add a year. Then you can frequently be delightfully surprised.
A dumb idea? Maybe not. You know that most shipments will be late. That puts a negative cloud over your head.
Instead, add a year, don’t worry, be happy.
If you adopt this philosophy your holidays will be brighter and gay.
