I've been waiting for the new MTH Halloween train stuff to arrive at the local hobby shop but as of today none have been delivered. We are 2 weeks from Halloween. Is it me or are you guys frustrated how everything always arrives so late. This happens with the Christmas stuff also. You would think these companies could get the stuff out so that people could enjoy it for this years holiday and not have to wait until the following year. Something is very wrong here. Most companies are putting their Christmas stuff out now and the Halloween stuff has been out for 6 weeks already. I don't get it.
What do you guys think? Do you feel the same way I do? Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Well everything this year seems to be tardy due to the global pandemic we're living in. 🤔
It will come and it will probably be awesome.👍

Charlie has pretty much summed it up.
It seems the whole world is slowing down. I too have suffered through agonizing long waits for items to be delivered to me or to my customers.
MTH is in its "death throes" it seems. I have older stuff I need parts for, and now it seems like a lost cause when it comes to obtaining them. The drive to follow through with satisfying their customers seems to be fading...

When you buy from a company that has announced its closing, what do you expect? Unless forced to, I would not buy a toothpick from MTH now.
Late is the norm in the train business. Expect late and be pleasantly surprised on rare occasions. There will always be excuses until there is a significant penalty for being late.
At least MTH won’t be like the Lionel milk cars... they won’t be here long enough.

You’re right, this happens every year without fail. Lionel and MTH are consistently late. I purchased the Polar Express streamliner a few years ago on the first day it was in the Hobby Shop: January 2!

Yes it is the new normal in train purchases. I too have been awaiting passenger set from MTH, a Veterans ES44 AC from Lionel along with the alien set. Maybe January??

For some reason I have this picture in my head. It's a skeleton sitting at a window and the caption reads "waiting on my holiday train order to be delivered"!

Maybe if you had ordered back in January it would just be arriving. You guys have convinced to never order trains online. I'll wait for a train show if they ever open the state up.

It is what it is. The published distribution schedule for the suppliers is something that you learn to take with a big grain of salt.

I have never pre-ordered anything (for any category of items, not just trains). I buy what is on the back of the truck as they say.

I see I am not alone in my frustrations. I guess I should expect it with MTH at this point. I just bought the MTH Halloween train I was waiting for on eBay yesterday so apparently some vendors are getting some somehow. I am hoping to see the new lighted Lionel Fastrack in stock somewhere before this Christmas. I am interested in that for a part of my Christmas garden this year. I will keep low expectations of it arriving on time that way I won't be disappointed. lol.

I really don't expect anything out of MTH. they are going out of business. So I did not order anything from them

My pre-orders are down to practically nothing. So when shipments arrive nowadays, it’s great to look without pressure of fulfilling any commitments.

I've been driven to buying on the auction sites things that my dealers tried to get (or were supposed to) and didn't. You normally have to pay something of a premium in that market and of course you are dealing with basically anonymous sellers, but I haven't actually been stung (yet).
I have a couple of pre-orders I am waiting on. One, as I have already confessed to my shame, is a Lionel VL GS series engine, which despite the December shipping schedule date I do not expect to see until well into next year.
It always irritated me that MTH cataloged things that they simply would not make unless and until they had sufficient pre-orders from dealers. But I resentfully understand that they were in business to sell stuff, as the other importers still are.
