This comment was posted to another forum about the OGF:
“What a site, now they begged for money to keep it going. Lots donated and wow got a diamond next to their name for donating $100 +..
And a "free" OGF truck or something. Wow, yeah free for a $100.
I pity the ones who don't have the diamond.”
The management for this forum need not wonder why they have so few active folks left when they allow rubbish like this to be posted on their site. This guy must be filled with so much jealousy towards the OGF that he is driven to pen these outrageous comments. I bet their few active members left are totally embarrassed by these comments as it reflects poorly on their entire forum.
This “BIG” or whatever he calls himself doesn’t have a clue that our members don’t need to be prodded to help with donations to support a forum they love. Few forums, if any, can tout this level of loyalty. In terms of the appreciation gift of a very nice 1:43 scale pickup truck, not one Diamond Member gave a penny just to receive a gift. They all understood it was a very nice way to say thank you for their support. The good news, these beautiful pickup trucks will be in the hands of our members next week. We have hundreds of guests each day and I am sure our Diamond Members will be proud to post photos of these special pickup trucks (yes, they are special).
Maybe we should say thank you as quotes like the one shown above serve to drive new members for us. So, please keep telling the world about the O-Gauge Forum.

I didn't donate for the diamond or the truck, I donated because I enjoy the forum and want it to continue to flourish and grow. I will take the diamond and the truck though. It shows an appreciation for its members!!

An old saying:
"Let the dogs bark, it's a sign that we’re moving forward"

It's sad to see a person advertise their unhappiness. I do feel compassion towards him.

What does he care what we do? If they don't like it move on. I don't give rats a-- what they think. It must really chap his hide that we are doing so well with out them. He sounds like a guy I encountered at York.

He sounds like a guy I encountered at York. That is exactly how I feel, Denny. Like you, I don't give a rat's rear end what they think.

That was kind of old news. The thread it was running in, was starting to die out as it hasn’t been answered in seven days.
I was a bit taken aback when I read it, but the entire thing is a few people griping about our forum here and some disparaging words about one of their contributors. It is a bit counter productive to recognize the negativity of another forum as it doesn’t have an effect on us here if we simply ignore it.
We shouldn’t trade shots either. Let’s be the bigger people and let the babies have their bottle.
I understand the insult one may feel reading that garbage, but it is just that. Garbage. Leave it to stink up “their” forum. Not ours.

What OGF has given me is a small price for my contribution to assure it continues. OGF is not just about the hobby, but the people I have become friends with.

Why do we not simply ignore this kind of stuff?
That is what we said we were going to do. We are hurting this forum with the constant comments of this type. They have no place here.

In business, I learned a long time ago to stay on top of what is being said about you (both true and untrue) as what people read can and will hurt you if it is framed to do so. Pretending that it does not exist when it is so blatant can be a mistake. Remember, "words count". I am sure that I am a whole lot more sensitive about this than most as these same folks unleashed the "Wrath of Kahn" at me personally a year ago. Walk in my shoes with all the effort it took to get us started and it is NOT so easy to stand on the sidelines and take cheap shots. I am not so good at that (most who know me are aware of this anyway).

Brian and all, his (Big's) response was after this forum had written a few posts about a prominent member (an author) who had left OGR and returned. So, truth be told, it was started here. Now, that doesn't excuse the vitriol he wrote; but, having read his posts over the years, that's the type of person he is.
Personally I think the whole thing should be dropped and left alone.
Thank you, Tom
