Do you have the military car that has the large rocket on it? It's an older release.

I recently pickup a set of box cars from menards with graffiti. Unfortunately 2 out of the 4 box cars wheels were very stiff to the point that I can’t even use one of them (it’s sits on the spur track off to the side). I was going to give up but then ordered a flatcar with a fire engine only to have the same problem. Stuck wheels? Has any one had similar issues with the wheels?

Problems with the trucks is pretty common with Menards but often it just takes a simple adjustment. Make sure the axle is sitting in the truck properly. Often they will come out of position during shipping. I have also had an axle come bent once, bu that is fairly rare.

Thank You Adam, I actually took a closer look yesterday and sure enough i was able to fix the issue, The metal bracket that holds the wheel was bent and rubbing the axle, I was able to loosen it up with pliers and now they are working smoothly. The flat car needed to pop off the wheel and hammer in the wheel a little closer inward on the axle and problem solved!!

I just picked up a BNSF boxcar and if course the trucks are crap I was hoping they had fixed the issue, but noooo. That was my last train purchase from there. I have several boxcars with truck issues so now they are shelf decoration.

Denny,
Micro mark sells a item called a truck tuner. It enlarges the hole the axle of the truck goes into. After you do that the cars will roll like they are on ice. Its very inexpensive. But it works.

About half of my Menards cars came with at least one wheel set not seated in the truck properly. I think they get dislodged during shipping. The cars that had the axles not properly seated now roll freely as they should.

One of my Menards Tide boxcars had a bad truck. It was to wide and the axle kept falling out. I tried to bend the truck side but that didn't work. I ended up bending it right where the axle goes in. It looks terrible now. Almost like it was in an accident. I debated returning it. There are a couple of the Menards cars I recently purchased that have trucks that are just super poor quality. I plan to replace the trucks on them. That sucks because there goes the savings I had in them.

None of my Menards cars are from the latest production runs and the trucks are all fine. I wonder if this is a problem with newer cars?
