I have tracked Brooklin 1:43 scale model vehicles for my layout for a long period of time. One model stood out to me, but the price, in my humble opinion, ridiculous to outrageous. This seller was offering a Brooklin model that has been custom painted. It has been on the market for a long time with no takers (no surprise). A few months back, the "plain Jane" version (not custom painted) came up for auction. I purchased the model for $ 18.00. I then had it painted for a fraction of the high-priced model. I now have something special for the layout. A place for it on the layout has already been reserved in the Car Show. More than one way to get what you want. Base Model: Model Offered for Sale, $ 390.50My Version:

Very interesting, Brian. I’ve never seen a ‘63 Corvette Sting Ray in a two-tone paint scheme before.

Vern, I have been looking at this model for a long time, but the price, I thought they were plum crazy. Anyway, I figured a way around this. Looks good in the Car Show. The OGF 2021 Car Show contest will a tough one for our members. So many nice models to choose from.

Brian, your bargain Sting Ray looks great. You got a great model for about a tenth of what that seller is asking.
Vern, I'm guessing that the owner of this Corvette invested in an after market custom paint job.
When I was a young fella I knew a guy who brush painted his car with sky blue house paint. It looked horrible but he was happy with it.

Well done, Brian!
I remember going to the York train meets in the early 2000's and bringing home decent 1950's vehicles for $5-8. I would even let the boys play with them (at that price no big deal, right?). Today, I look at the diecast cars available and their prices and just shudder. The days of $6 cars from China are long gone. It seems that the entry price for these vehicles in $20 or so.
