Well, the model railroading bug bit hard about 55 years ago. Most of that time was spent drifting in and out of enthusiasm along with shifting focus on various scales. Fifteen years ago the focus became 3 rail O and an Atlas double track ceiling layout was constructed during a den renovation. It served the purpose of keeping me from being a permanent armchair enthusiast and inspired me on to a second, more conventional pike.
Converting an attic to house a layout #2 was easy peasy! Structurally you start from the basement and work your way up through a new stairwell into what amounts to a dark summer furnace. The room is T shaped, 32 X 22 but only about 10' at its widest. It has managed to contain roughly 350' of Gargraves trackage so far. Now that most of the mainline and sidings are complete what's left for the future is an engine facility. I hope to immediately progress with scenery on portions already confirmed as operational worthy. Bruce

Sorry for the late reply. I will post some pics ASAP. I am in mid project that is taking up inordinate amounts of time. And IT will be a topic all on it's own. Train On!

Once again, thank you all for the warm welcome. I promise to post pics soon.
One of the layout issues I'm dealing with right now is rewiring all track power in the " star " configuration to improve DCS signal. Happily it has worked out well and frankly I've been foregoing other responsibilities for some very satisfying run time. There still remains a few blocks requiring the new 12 gauge wire but at least those sections can be retrofitted relatively easily. The recent heatwave has forced me to limit time upstairs but that doesn't mean all work stops. Some bad puppies on the work bench were repaired then exercised. Just knowing they no longer wait in the wings makes me feel a whole lot better. Speaking of a whole lot better, I have a good feeling about joining in here. Coincidentally is has everything to do with independence and freedom. Bruce
