Of course, Marx. Many of us growing up received the colorful Marx trains and here's a Marx layouts. Anyone ever have, or have a Marx layout?

Marx trains may not have all the nostalgia associated with them, but they certainly made plenty of happy memories for lot of kids back in the day. It was a hand-me-down Marx set that got O-gauge trains into my life!
Kind of a shame how Marx toys have faded from recognition -- besides trains, Marx made so many popular toys throughout their time. Most of what they made was cleverly designed to be inexpensive and just plain fun.

I've never heard of Marx until I started talking on the train forums. I grew up with Lionel.

My first electric train was a Marx freight set when I was 3.
A Marx TV commercial jingle I remember from the late 1950s as a boy.:
“M - A - R - X spells MARX, world’s largest toy maker.” 🎶 😀

My O27 Lionel set was expanded into a layout with a fair amount of Marx track with a couple accessories like a light tower tossed in. Also built a few Lionel compatible KMT rolling stock kits. They were inexpensive and popped together like Athearn blue box. Otherwise, don't recall owning any Marx engines or rolling stock.

I love the Hopalong Cassidy and the Lone Ranger and Tonto cutouts.

That is so cool! Your brother was a very lucky boy to meet the Lone Ranger. I loved the Lone Ranger when I was a boy. Santa brought me a Lone Ranger suit with a gun belt with 2 silver six guns and silver bullets one Christmas. I still love the Lone Ranger and watched 2 episodes while I was exercising this morning. Hiho Silver!

Hiho Silver! He was always gracious. Over the decades he would answer mail and phone calls and signed many things for me. It was my pleasure to know him and what he stood for.

Still have my Marx wind up set from when I was 4 years old (66 years ago!) Still is in great shape and still runs like new.
Have picked up some nice Marx trains along the way in my life. Recently got quite a few 3/16" cars and a loco. Never realized Marx made these nice pieces! They are the cream of their crop! Rival the Lionel and other bigger manufacturers!
I wonder how many others got their start in "O" Gauge and train collecting with Marx?
BTW ... Marx made what I think are the BEST 027 switches out there! Positive operating, smooth transition, simple to maintain and built to last! I have several pairs even though I no longer use 027. And they still function as new!
Marx accessories are very compatible and look well on Lionel, MTH and other "O" Gauge layouts. Seems that Lionel (Cowan) and Marx (Louis Marx) had a somewhat friendly, yet robust, competition between them. They did meet quite a few times amicably and seemed to manufacture things that complimented each other.
