I am building a Korber model that I had sitting in the basement for a while. Before I weather it im going to work on the inside. First thing I did was lay an oak floor using moulding strips I found at home depot. I stained it with the darkest stain I could find but I am going to try and make it darker than pictured. Im happy with the results but next time im going to rip the wood on the band saw so the flooring is not so wide. I used oak instead of balsa wood because I wanted the wood grain. Just need to dirty and scratch the floor up before I go any further. Im waiting for a self stick picture of a brick wall I'll be using on the inside. I'll post pictures when I get it inside........

Looking good. The idea of an interior exposed brick wall is a winner. Where did you order the brick sheets?

Plastruct also makes textured plastic brick sheets, which are available through Amazon sellers as well as Plastruct itself. They are very realistic but require painting. As far as wood planking is concerned, I have found that there is really no substitute for natural grain that can be finished to highlight its features. Your floor shows the grain just about as good as it gets in O scale and if you have a band saw, cutting that molding into smaller strips is certainly an option. An alternative I have found is a product named “RealWoodPaper” which is effectively extremely thin veneers of wood applied to printable sheets, which can be cut with scissors or even run through a printer. Individually these are not expensive and are easy to work with. This is the color of the letter-sized paper walnut sample, which could pass for dark oak: I am not doing structures as large as yours and space is at a real premium so I had to think in terms of these sheets rather than solid wood - even balsa or basswood strips.
