Country Joe started an excellent Poll about his construction of new trees for his layout. Made me think about how our members feel about trees on their layouts. Do you use them and to what extent?
Please share with us your thoughts and photos of trees on your layouts.

you can't have enough trees. didn't realize how difficult it would be to build a forest until i tried.

Yes, I use trees. I have a lot on the sections for which I've already built scenery. Unfortunately, I'm not very good at making them. Buying them is expensive, but my best alternative. The area that still needs a lot of trees will be north of the Steubenville railroad station. George

I've got a few trees on the layout and wold love to add more over time. Trees and other plant life certainly enhance the layout. Here are some of them, including some from the Christmas layout.

Unless your modeling the Sahara Desert, trees to me are a necessity. They high lite scenes, buildings and roadways on the layout. They also hide shortcomings and like tunnels, trains coming out or around a forest of trees is fantastic. I wish I had more.

Well, one can never have too many trees. Would you believe that my small, 88 sq. ft. layout has about 215 trees on it? Yet, I still could use more. That’s certainly a healthy tree to footage ratio!

Thanks Adam, but the freight side of the layout could use more. There never seems to be enough of them. 🤔 Heading north this morning to “My Own Private Idaho” for the Memorial Day weekend. Have a nice one and stay safe, everyone. 👍

I think trees are very important. When I look outside there are trees all over the place. IMHO, a layout without trees just doesn't look right unless it's a western desert layout.
The trees on my layout are from Dept. 56, Lemax, Menards, JTT Scenery and Woodland Scenics tree kits. As I said in another thread I am reworking some of the ready made spring trees with buds rather than summer foliage to make them look better. I bought some of the trees, some were given to me by my old club, and the Menards trees were freebies with a purchase.

Nice trees guys. That’s going to be my next big project. I bought Super Trees some time ago, and will see what I can come up with.
