Seems I had everything for steam, coal tower, sanding, water, etc., but for my diesel engines, I lacked a fueling facility.
So while looking through boxes of saved stuff I had from many modeling left over kits, etc. idea struck me. Using a truck chassis as a foundation filling in depression with hobby wood pieces, sanding and filling. Using a scrap piece of PVC 1 1/4". Found some gasoline nozzles from gas station pumps, thin black wire from pile of wires I save. A radar unit from a planned space ship I had thought decades ago of building and using the back piece I had formed. Scale wood 4x4 for holding the hose nozzles. Some left over piping and valves from a project of Amoco Tank and Tablers and sons terminal. Other odds and ends spool pieces for hoses came from left over Army Tank kits. Nothing was bought since I never throw anything out and they may all have a future.
I cut a piece of PVC to 7", using the back piece of the radar piece I glued it to one end of PVC which will be the top. But the piece didn't fit to the edge of the pipe, so using plastic putty and a utility blade angle from top over the edge I was able to bring a slight angle to top of tank, (keeps rain water from accumulating to top of tank), sanded with very fine sandpaper after drying 400 grit.
The base was a truck chassis I found in my save box. Using modelers wood covered the depression in center edges and both ends, filled edges with putty, dry, then sanded smooth. Gave the base a coat of Krylon Natural Stone, when dry gave it a wash with a light gray which I made with Black and added White acrylic until desired gray came out. The spool pieces were leftover from a Sherman tank model with extras, wrapped thin black wire around, super glued gasoline nozzles to end. Glued scale wood 4X4s to base and added hooks made from thin copper wire to hold the nozzles, stained wood a Burnt Umber. The filter was a small tank from I don't remember. The piping and vent I bent to shape using a cup of boiling water till I got the right bend then cut to size I needed. I gave the tank a very light rust like dusting using my airbrush. The pictures and added several don't really show the light rusting showing slightly through the white paint.
Here's some pics, hope these help.
