Borrowed a couple of websites that have a number of interesting old photos of many US railroads. We like them to get ideas about “how it used to be” and structures, weathering, etc. These are good. www.rr-fallenflags.orgflickr.com. John W Barriger III National Railroad Library’s albums I am sure that someone knows how to change them to links... not me although I have them in my message file but don’t know to get them to paste here. No grandkids available due to CoronaVirus. Okay, I got the links to work. www.flickr.com/photos/barrigerlibrary/albums

I collect old pictures from Momence and Kankakee and the railroads that had trackage through and the 2 roundhouse that were in area. Discover new ones every once in awhile. Have over 1200 pics so far.

I should mention that on the B&M Railroad Historical site, they have a section with resources for modelers. I thought that was neat the first time I saw it. www.bmrrhs.org/modelers-overview

I'm glad that someone has preserved so much memorabilia. I just had a look at the Katy section of the Flickr site but at 1000+ photos it will take a while.
The other resources I have found are university and library digital collections. The Newberry Library in Chicago has a huge amount of Pullman-Standard records.
And if you Google "railroad posters" you will get a vast amount of colorful images giving an idealized view of the heyday of cross-country passenger trains.

I love old historical photos and videos in general, railroad related are even better. This site has links to all kinds of goodies related to the old Boston & Maine RR. www.bmrrhs.org/ Adam, I also take pleasure in historical photographs and reading the history of long ago RRs. I thought this might be of interest to you. It is a history of the Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad. It is a 33 mile single track line running from Unity, Maine to Belfast, on the coast of Maine. Continuously operated since 1868. It was also the last municipally operated railroad in America. I became attached to this little Short-Line because as a native born Maniac we attend the Common Ground Country Fair in Unity Maine each year. This railroad serves as a commuter service for the fair and we have ridden it many times. The history, written by Bruce C. Cooper is very comprehensive. There are multiple links which take you back to historical documents, drawings and pictures. In addition Mr. Cooper was also a very talented RR Photographer and I have one of his beautiful framed pictures called "City Point by Moonlight". I have tried to take a photograph of the picture and it does not do it justice. I may take the frame apart and try to scan the picture to share here. Below is the link: Belfast and Moosehead Railroad

Wood that is an interesting website. I just read most of it. Nice history of the railroad.
It is interesting to see that all but three pictures lack what I would have most expected... snow.

Below is the link: Belfast and Moosehead Railroad I just finished reading and looking through some pictures. Very interesting history. What I find fascinating is that it seems that the early history of every earl railroad had similar challenges. They never seemed to fully account for all costs and always need more money to finish and the ever present power struggle. So many of these histories would make for an excellent movie.
