I noticed on another train forum this morning a thread about diecast vehicles. It is a very interesting topic to me as I think our train layouts are so much more improved with them. Frankly, the posts to this thread I am referring to at the time I read it (about 7:00 AM today) did not adequately address this subject. I am hopeful that our members and guests, who may have read the other thread, may be more enlightened by the information posted here.
Waitin4thetrain Gary and I have been doing a lot of research on diecast vehicles for a future OGF vehicle project (similar to the special project that Volphin Trey is working on). We have looked at many, many suppliers of 1:43rd scale vehicles for various price ranges. We have found several diecast vehicles starting at the $ 5.99 price range that cover a wide variety of car models. For those who want the high end, then Brooklin models are one of the nicest out there, but command a high price at retail that ranges from $ 133.00 and up. For all levels of quality, eBay is a good option as you can purchase the better quality at prices far below retail. Menards is also another place to look for vehicles at good pricing.
If you are searching for inexpensive but nice models, Model Toy Cars.Com is an excellent source. They are currently not accepting orders because of the covid-19 ramifications. This is one of the best sites for 1:43 scale vehicles at wonderful pricing and worth looking at when they are up and running again. Fairfield Collectibles is another good choice. Just do some internet searching and you can find just about any car model you are looking for at the price point you are comfortable with.
No reason not to be able to populate your layout with qaulity vehicles. I hope this helps.

I wanted out members to know there are an abundant of choices for vehicles to add to their layouts. The more information we can get out our members, the better.
One thing about the OGF, "we have the beef" when it comes to good information.

Good info BRIAN. I usually end up getting lots of my cars at YORK and other train meets. The Members Halls at York are probably where I get the best deals because they are willing to deal and many of them sell their cars because they are overstock or got new merchandise. I like walking those halls just because of these deals and seeing many new cars I have never seen before. I seem to always get at least one new car there at York every time I go, and at a great price.

Great topic Brian!!!
I get most of my cars and trucks from Ebay. What I suggest is the following: 1: Search for 1/43 Welly - You can get some great 1950s and modern cars for $5 - $10. 2: Search for 1/43 Ertl 3: Search for 1/43 Newray 4: Search for 1/43 Franklin Mint
I find that you get the most for your money with these searches.
Its the shipping that hurts..........................

Joe S., excellent information. I was hoping for this. The more information about where to get vehicles at the price point and quality you are looking for, the better.
