Last night I started a couple of small Downtown Deco kits ( Archies Bar & the Chinese laundry) buildings. I prepped the walls & glued them up and will paint and finish them tomorrow night. Tonight I unpacked the next kit to be built after the DD kits. This is a Tom Yorke kit from the 80’s I acquired from a friend. This is going to be a great build. Casting’s are incredible. This was Tom Yorke’s 10th Anniversary kit. The W.B. Davis factory and it also has the exterior boiler and water tank to. Here are a couple photos of all of the instructions, and a shot of all the castings laid out making sure I have the wall prices in the correct positions. I already have a spot picked out on my layout for this. Castings are incredible, almost no cleanup & the castings are very flat so there will be minimal sanding. No air holes in castings either. One thing with these old craftsman kits is the bundle of stick lumber you get and a ton of sketches wit very detailed plans. I cut th 3/4” plywood for the base and got it primed tonight for the build glue up tomorrow.
You can still get the kit. They are being remade by
They bought the rights and molds from Tom Yorke a few years back and some of his other kits.
I don't know if the casting quality is the same as my original one. They are out of stock at the moment but you can put your name on a waiting list for when more come back in stock. Here is the website page link:
