We are retired, so the impact has not had a big impact on our daily schedule. We go longer periods of time to the grocery store and do our best to practice separation from other shoppers as best as possible.
Many in our hobby are not retired, so the adjustment for them must be very difficult. Please share your experiences.

I noticed that some are at home with full pay. On leave. Relaxing. Others like me are still on line and working the system 14 hours a day trying to push the "machine" that is at a stand still right now. Systems were not set up to work from home. The focus will be on China, and how they are back to work after the spread of the virus. Groceries are a 3 day cycle and we only pick up what we need. At first I had child duty and work duty, meals, chores and alike. Now the Mrs. is home and she has been a big help with the kids.
Hobby shop is closed so I will have to pick up my lay away locomotive later. But there are other layout duties that I have been tackling.
I remember to exercise 1 hour a day and take extra vitamin C. I notice that this virus is even fatal to the young.
I tend to Facebook my friends and relatives to check-in as well.
Things that have stopped are:
Home improvement projects, buying anything off of eBay, and of course going out to dinner
Things that I can get done:
Riding bikes with the family around the sub.
Taking the dog for a walk
Yard work
Layout projects include: wiring signals, making more rock molds, cleaning track, painting, scenery, weathering, making a for sale pile, Making some realistic trees, and of course running trains!
BTW... I found things under the layout I totally forgot about!
Not sure what this will look like 3 weeks later. I already noticed the wife is practicing the 6ft. distancing on me.

I am not retired yet. 4/5 years to go. But I out on paid leave due to some health concerns that make me a higher risk. The wife unfortunately is still having to work. I really don't want to get it but my concern is anyone having it and not knowing it then passing it to someone else. Then they have serious issues or pass it to someone that does. That's why social distancing right now is so important. We have to protect that small group of people like the elderly or immune compromised. Let's all hope for a fast end to this craziness.

Both Cheryl and I are off work. I am on LTD at the moment and will retire in August of this year. Cheryl is working from home at the moment. Her "home" for the last month or so has been at her father's in Perth, 41 miles away due to her father's illness. She was called into the hospital earlier today as her father will pass soon. Most Likely today. She may well have to self isolate for 14 days when she leaves the hospital. She is the only family member allowed in. Very Sad. She will retire sometime this year as well. When I leave the house to get groceries I take a mask and gloves with me. Before I enter a store they are put on. The mask is washed with alcohol,(spray bottle), and the gloves are tossed. NO ONE IS ALLOWED IN THE HOUSE EITHER!! Just Another Day In Paradise, Gary.

Andra and I are still working. Both jobs are deemed essential by the governor. Andra is head of dietary at the medical care facility she works at. Mine is telecommunications. Andra stays on me about covid-19 and avoiding it. Wash hands, keep your distance etc etc etc. We grocery shop once a week if needed. The weekends are spent on projects or in the traincave. Now that the weather is a bit warmer I might get the bike out and pedal the neighborhood. My daughter has checked on me a few times. She is worried about me getting it and my health complicating getting over it.

Sorry for the long answer.
Immediate family is just fine. Working from home for me is not uncommon, but doing it with the kids at home, well, lets just say it is different and more challenging. Work is busier than ever. I work for a company that manufactures and supports (the end of the business I am in) computer networking products. With so many people WFH, we are busy. My oldest is a High School senior. She is going to miss her prom and very likely graduation ceremony. She is pretty bummed about it. My daughters are resilient and will be fine in the long run. Both girls miss their friends but making the most out of staying connected virtually.
My wife is, of course, cooking more meals than she is used to. She is doing an amazing job with it (always has been an amazing chef) and with rationing food so she doesn't need to go to the super market too often.
My in-laws are in their 80s and live with my sister-in-law and her son in Florida. My sister-in-law works as a PT in a busy hospital. We are worried about the virus finding its way to their house. Please say a prayer for them if you can. My parents are also in Florida. We were planning to visit the grandparents (both pairs) in April, but that is of course canceled. My dad was scheduled to have a hip operation at that time, also canceled.
On a positive note, we have been using technology more creatively. They played UNO card game with their aunt and cousin yesterday, over a video chat! My oldest is giving virtual drawing lessons to my brothers little ones. We are all talking and texting more. In a way, there is a silver lining. We are all getting a little bit closer, more family time, more movie watching, more together.
We will be fine ultimately. Just stressful times.

House bound. No grandchildren or anyone else can come over. Can’t go to the beach/cottage... OBX is closed.
Going out for a few train supplies is dangerous and the question is, go now before things get worse, wait until next week, or forget about it and do something else.
Going fishing takes a chance... maybe going Shad fishing Friday and being careful. Never took hand sanitizer fishing before.
We were going back to Mexico to fish in April. Instead, the boat left Isla Mujeres yesterday, came across the Gulf last night, and should be in Charleston tomorrow.

We are retired and have always shopped during the least busy times anyway. We also have the regular supplies stored, so it really hasn't affected us that much. We've noticed less traffic and people out and about, which makes it easier for us to get to and from places.
But I do feel for those more affected and wish them well. Remember, "this too, shall pass."

Jen and I are at home chilling. All my clients are closed. Jen is a band director and her school is closed at least until 4/24... so we are both getting to know what retirement is like. (I need to go back to work!!!) #HELP_ME! LOL Our son Will had his classes at college moved online, but he still is working 30 hours a week at Kroger in the Clicklist dept to get people what they need. Our son Christopher is bored out of his mind... we are wondering if our local school system will even have a graduation or prom this year. We did see this coming, and had plenty of food supplies, but the real challenge is our parents. We have given them strict orders not to leave the house and we take them groceries when required. Jen's mom was supposed to get her hip replaced last Monday. The hospital cancelled it Friday afternoon. And last night, she fell getting some food out of the fridge. We were at her apartment in 10 minutes and got her up on her walker again and then to her lift chair. Luckily the only thing damaged was a little pride, and a sore bottom. We really need to get this hip done asap because she can barely get around... but what is to be done? We can't have her in a hospital full of Corona Virus... she's mid 70's, but otherwise healthy. So we're stuck in that regard. Personally I've actually been catching up with some train repairs on my roster. I replaced the whistle steam micro motor in my Lionel Legacy Southern Crescent Limited. Lionel had a bad batch of them years ago and mine gave up the ghost at the club last Spring. See my OGF-U tutorial on Lionel WS units. They are super tiny. For reference, the screwdriver you see in the tutorial is eyeglass sized and the big fibers it is resting on is actually a folded bath towel. LOL All is back to normal and she is on the layout now. Another item being repaired is my MTH Pere Marquette USRA Mikado. This engine has not even visited my club yet. I bought her used on the bay and was dismayed that a few lights were inop (fixed with new bulbs) but also she had developed a high pitched motor noise after 4-5 hours of run time (break-in time). I removed the motor and inspected it. It turns out that the rear brass armature bearing had failed, a brush had a chunk missing and the shaft itself was galled. Parts are hard to come by for this motor, and new ones are no longer available. Luckily I have a friend near the Outer Banks in NC with quite the parts stash. He insisted on fixing it for me, so I mailed it right away, and was grateful for his assistance. It is now fixed and in the mail on the way home. Here you can see the little Pittman motor being removed from the engine: Stay healthy my friends! Maybe I can sneak away to the York Octoberfest.

I'm off work with pay at least through April 5th although I'm sure the time off will be longer since we have a statewide shelter in place order for a week beyond that at least. I went to the grocery store last Friday and the week before that to stock up and have been getting some stuff delivered through an online service to avoid going back as much as possible. It was certainly an odd experience with so many empty shelves on both trips. I had ordered a large box of Postwar Lionel repair parts from Jeff Kane right before we got sent home from work so that arrived just in time to keep me busy for awhile. I've been working on a postwar set that belongs to my dad's boss so it'll be ready to be passed down to his kids soon. Have a few more things to wrap up on that and I've been working on a number of little personal Postwar Lionel repair projects that I've put off due to a lack of time/motivation. I also finally finished setting up a small Postwar style floor layout that lives inside my nifty IKEA storage bed that I purchased a few months back. Now I have somewhere to run stuff out of my Prewar and Postwar collection whenever I want by simply flipping up my bed frame without losing already limited floorspace in my apartment.

I'm still able to go to work, the biggest thing I've noticed this past weekend is when I went to BJ'S and Walmart. BJ's was wiped out of all meat, produce, and had very little of other food items and the paper products were also totally wiped out. Walmart was completely out of all paper products, also very few food items . I've never seen anything like it, only on the news about other countries. We are very fortunate to live were we do.

Hanging in there. Going to ride my bike tomorrow, run a locomotive on layout, been watching the Sopranos half way thru season 2. Roads are empty kind of eerie. I have enough food on hand for several more weeks. My parents are out in Arizona snowbirds. I told them to stay out there don't come back to Michigan yet. Stay safe and take care.

I posted in another thread about the closing of our company. We are in the entertainment business, restaurant and bowling center. It is very frightening. 29 long term employees and 35 years in business. We do not have a lot of debt and we do have a solid cash reserve but, if this lasts a long time it will be like starting all over again. They are supposed to be passing a big support bill in congress which could be helpful. As of 9:30 pm Wednesday night, it still hasn't passed. Just have to wait it all out and see what's left. I know we will survive even if we have to start over.
Not to joke about it but my two sons took over the business this year. I keep telling them I got out just in time!! LOL They are hard workers and smart man. They will win this fight.
Personally, We don't have to worry about TP, paper towels and food, there is a lot, in frozen storage at work. All of my family is rigid about washing hands, not touching our face and keeping our distance from people. No one has come down with the covid-19. I refuse to capitalize the word, it isn't worthy of a Cap.

My wife's work is closed as she works in daycare for senior citizens. My daughters college is closed but starts online classes next week. She is a nurse's assistant at our local hospital. She works part time but has been asked to take extra shifts. She has heard of patients being on her floor with COVID-19 but she has not been there when they were on her floor. I work in medical clinic in maintaining all the systems. I have had to work extra hours as result in changes of procedures due to virus.
I had sore throat last week but it went away quickly. I had no temperature or cough. We have had much concern in my family if one of gets sick. Since I am exposed to patients in my clinic not knowing who has it or not, my wife feels that I am at greater risk versus my daughter working in the hospital. I now wear a mask and gloves while going down hallways and entering into exam rooms.
Stay well everyone.
