We had a show this weekend in Novi MI. The usual clubs were there except for one new one. Except for the corners the layout was completely made of scratch built metal bridges. Yup. The man is now 77 years old and replicates bridges from plans and photos to O scale. The first picture is one bridge in 3 pieces, Oh yea, it's 40 feet long. No you didn't read it wrong, it's 40 feet with over 50,000.00 welds. Well brazed, I guess it depends on how you define welding. The detail is just incredible. To give a better idea on how big this is, look at the hopper cars on the bridge, they are O scale.
Enjoy Bruce...

Yup, That is amazing. Not to take away from the artistic work, but it creates a pretty one dimensional layout. A feat all onto itself. I am sure members and visitors were very impressed...

Very cool! Must be a heavy layout to transport though. Gotta admire the commitment to the hobby!

Very cool! Must be a heavy layout to transport though. Gotta admire the commitment to the hobby! Quite committed I guess... The daughter said that the whole house is full of bridges. the Coors bridge stays in the living room.
He is currently working on a Ferris wheel in O scale...

Incredible work. Like the high rise buildings as well in one of the photos.

40 feet! He must have a huge garage or basement. That has to require more than 50 feet with O72 curves. Amazing stuff.

Oh forgot to mention. This is one family who set all this up.

There’s only one problem with those bridges. Absolutely no rust. Up here in the frigged North East no bridge is compete without a nice rusty patina!
