I'm not completely unknowing, just not sure a some of time how to move forward. This is my second Proto Sound 1 I mainly have Lionel or Conventional MTH. I do understand let it charge before moving it. Will test with meter first.

Best to blanket coverage for all skill levels, than to leave a variable open,….a variable that could sneak up and kick you right square in the kiester!

Well the order got canceled at last minute for the NiMH 9V 200mAh Low Self Discharge Rechargeable Battery. ( suppose to be delivered ) So went to company to reorder. So few more days wait. No offence taken, just stating I know some of the fundamentals, but always best to ask question if not 100% sure.
By the way they come fully charge.

Well the NiMH 9V 200mAh Low Self Discharge Rechargeable Battery came in today, so I just got done putting it in the Blue Comet engine and testing it, all is good. Ran as it should, didn't break a sweat pulling the three Blue Comet Passenger Cars.

Ran as it should, didn't break a sweat pulling the three Blue Comet Passenger Cars. The type of battery or BCR capacitor has no positive or negative effects on how many cars can be pulled. Your only tests should be... 1) Do all of the lights and sounds (smoke if you have it) stay on when you switch directions and can you actually switch directions without the engine restarting? 2) Does the battery or capacitor provide enough energy to complete the sounds of the shutdown sequence in its entirety once power is cut. Answer yes to those and you are golden.

I know that, the comment was seeing it has sat basically 25 years and never ran. Boards have self destruct in that time period. Those 3 cars are pretty heavy also with a strong drag. I need to look at them some more.
