Soto wants $75 million per year...do you think Yanks will pay that? Maybe. Dodgers will pay that. They may but the Dodgers don’t usually play in the high dollar free agents, especially after spending a ton on Ohtani, Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow.
The San Francisco Giants are an interesting option as they have lots of money to spend. But star players have avoided playing there because Oracle Park is not hitter friendly.
The Washington Nationals would love to have Soto back. They have the money but I don’t think their rebuild is far enough along for his liking.
The Yankees have the obvious inside track. Soto loves playing in New York and they are on the doorstep of a championship.
Watch out for the Mets. They spend whatever it takes and have a ton of money coming off the books. I wish the Phillies or Padres, who both are not shy about spending money on great players, could sign him but they are probably long shots.
Soto can fit on any roster. It’s only a matter of who will pay the price!

The Phillies could sign Soto If the owner wants a world series and with Bryce Harper's good years are coming to a end. Injuries are now popping up every year so for the Phillies they better win soon with a rebuild looming ahead in the next couple of years. I think Soto will stay with the Yankees, he likes it there. I would love for him to come to the Phillies but the chances are slim.

One unknown is will there be a recovery from the Diamond Sports Group bankruptcy. The Sinclair Broadcast Group subsidiary that manages the Bally Sports regional channels, facing liquidation causing franchises in multiple major league sports to lose millions in broadcasting revenue. This could affect many teams for signing players.
The lack of revenue was the reason the Padres traded Juan Soto for good but less expensive players. The plan was to keep him through his current contract year and sign him this offseason. Locally, Major League Baseball has taken over broadcasting Padres games along with several other teams.

LMAO, stat cast says he got a good arm but his range sucks. Lots of fly balls he let drop judge could of caught or most other right fielders baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/juan-soto-665742?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb

Wouldn’t you say The padres are better off without Soto. Takes 9 players on The field, not just one superstar to be a winner

Anything is possible at this point. I haven’t heard anything but Padres GM A.J. Preller is a wheeler and dealer. He has built a solid club but with some questionable big contracts that could drag the franchise down in a few years. They are built to win now and the window is open for a while. Soto would fit nicely in their outfield again. And since he said he’ll listen to every team we will see. For the Padres it may depend on their broadcast revenue to be able to do it. I believe he’s looking for a big payday and a chance to win a World Series sooner rather than later. Some teams fit that description better than others.

Wouldn’t you say The padres are better off without Soto. Takes 9 players on The field, not just one superstar to be a winner It really is a mess. We weren’t sure until very late in spring training if we’d see Padres games on tv this past season. Several MLB, NHL and NBA teams were affected too.
Soto wasn’t a problem on the 2023 Padres. He was probably their best player. That team had a lot of internal problems and some players weren’t willing to do the basic fundamentals of the game to succeed. It was frustrating to watch the lineup swinging from their heels instead of moving base runners over. The only reason the Padres traded Soto was because of the broadcast revenue fiasco. They knew they couldn’t sign him after this season had he stayed, so rather than risk losing him to free agency they traded him to the Yankees to fill some holes in their pitching staff. I think the Padres and their fans would love to see him come back. I wasn’t happy when they traded him but they had a fine 2024 season. I think it would have been better if he was still in the lineup.
